In designing a retail space, it’s important to think about how customers move through the store. One of the easiest ways to guide that movement is by using flooring. The right flooring design can help people find their way around, notice certain products and feel comfortable while shopping.

Use Flooring to Create Paths

Flooring can be a great means by which to lead people from one area to another. For example, using a different colour or style of flooring can create a path that guides customers from the entrance to the main part of the store. A wood-look vinyl plank floor might lead them in, while tile or a darker shade of vinyl could show them where to go next. These visual cues don’t need to be obvious, as even small changes in texture or tone can help shoppers understand where to walk without needing signs or instructions.
